“All I can say about my experience is that I’ve learned so much. I learned the most From Mr.Alan Binder. He was always the most honest and always so supportive.
Shakira (at the front desk) would always be pleasant and would always try to help and ask how my day was going. My days were hard just being released from prison and being placed on house arrest, it felt great to have someone ask me how my day was going.
I honestly can say that It was a pleasant experience. You have an amazing team.
Don’t get me started with Ramona Sanchez and how amazing she would teach the drug and alcohol class. I also learned so much in that class, she also made the class very exciting.
Thank you for everything and thank you for helping me get through the hardest time of my life.”

“Maggie, I wanna thank you for being a sweet person and teaching me to be a better person and also a better mother for my children. I’ve learned a lot from you. I am so lucky to know you. Thank you!”

“I wanted to touch base with you and update you on my status.
I’m happy to say that all is well at the moment. I spoke to my judge and he completely understood my situation and has transferred me to a new program. I am now attending Fifth Street Counseling which has been an absolute amazing experience. The difference there is that a lot of the counselors are in recovery themselves and are much more understanding. They get this whole process of recovery and treatment and just how difficult it can be. My counselor is 15 years sober and he’s a really great teacher and cares a lot about his clients. They don’t let us glorify anything but they do allow us to share the hardships we have faced and how we’ve learned to overcome and cope with our past and struggles. They also do written tests once a month to make sure that you are listening and paying attention and these tests get sent to your supervising officer and your judge. I think that’s great! It keeps you on your toes. :o)
It’s more work but it’s been a great experience and it’s helped a lot.
I have stayed off of any type of illicit drug and also alcohol since February 22 and I feel like a whole new person.
I’m not proud of the situation I am in but I definitely happy to be where I am. This program is probably going to save my life and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the amazing people I have met along the way. Please know that I am forever and always indebted to you for all your help and support.” 06 08 16

“Hello Dr. Rhodes, I attended my hearing today and it went extremely well. Once she read over your letter, the judge was very favorably disposed and she terminated my probation. I was very surprised and so relieved. Your help in this matter not only affected the outcome but it was a great source for diminishing my anxieties as I approached the hearing. It really was a huge relief. I also want to add my appreciation for Gary who called me, my probation officer and my attorney on the morning of the hearing in addition to offering to go to the hearing with me. Thank you again for your contribution and to Shakira’s intercession that allowed us to talk across the miles at that critical moment.” 05 14 16
“I just recently finished my drug/alcohol program at Fifth Street and I want you to know that instructor Robert was very good! He kept classes interesting and informative. Your front desk staff was also very good. Thank you and your staff for all the great information.”
“Mr. Smyth, I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to help me obtain my driver’s license, out of state. It’s great to know that there are people like you in this world that care and have feelings for people like me that are in severe predicaments. Thank you and God Bless you Gary.”
“Ramona and Staff: It take a certain kind of special person to help the needs of others. It’s a tough job that you do and you DID make a difference in my life. I want to thank you all of opening my eyes up to bettering my life.”
“A big thank you to Shakira and Lacie for all you did for me. And thank you Gary Smyth for coordinating my case. Your facilities are clean and comfortable. Lacie does an awesome job and is always pleasant. Ramona was a great counselor, not just to me, but to all of her clients and she goes ‘above and beyond’ to make sure that everyone is on the right track. Again, a big THANK YOU to everyone at 5th Street.”
“Mr. Smyth I wanted to take the time to personally thank you again for all your help and great support. I really think 5th Street is a great program. I personally enjoyed it and was able to get a lot out of it. I’ve learned more in my 6 months while attending 5th Street than any other program. So thank you again!”
“As this will be my last meeting with Alan Binder today, November 3, I would like to say a special thank you to both you and Alan. Alan and yourself have helped me this past year through some very difficult times. As being new to South Florida and just moved from Chicago I was not prepared for what was in store. Luckily fate brought me to Fifth Street and I got to meet Alan. Alan was very approachable and gave me some great insight on how to deal with my stress and demons. He was very compassionate and caring. He was funny and serious in our sessions. Gary your organization is run in a fashion that I actually enjoyed going to meetings and listening to other peoples situations. I felt like I wasn’t alone. Again, thanks to both of you and for your great services and professionalism. Regards.”
“Hi Garry, I would like to thank you for all your time and effort in my situation and helping me through my services, I did indeed gain insight and thought you would like to know that. Robert is genuine and full of passion for what he does and it shows clearly, Maggie has been considerate, kind and understanding, Charlene has been a pleasure, what a great team! Thank you!”
“I would like to take the time to make mention of Ramona and Lacie. They made my time at Fifth Street memorable. At first it was hard to deal with the fact that I had to attend State required sessions, but Ramona and Lacie made my time easier. They were both understanding to my situation. Thank you for all being so caring.”
“Mr. Smyth, you and your program, well I owe everything to u guys everything! You saved my life!!! You truly are an amazing person Mr. Smyth and I think about 5th Street employees often. Just today I bragged about your awesome program to the courts. I told Judge Diaz I’ve BEEN To 3 programs and still to this day yours is #1!!!!!! Judge Diaz said, “really? I’m happy to hear that, and I’ll make a note about 5th Street in my computer!” Just thought u should know that!”
“Ramona, thank you for all your encouragement throughout this 26 week ordeal. I have learned from and listened to all of your words of wisdom and will take it with me. You are amazing and I appreciate all you did help me change my life.”
“My experience at 5th Street Counseling was a great one. It was worth the time and energy. I really learned alot in my anger management groups. Especially about “Stressers”. My counselor, Ramona was absolutely amazing. She made the groups fun and not boring.”
“Although I hated paying every week, my classes were good. You can tell that they really care for their clients. They are always very nice and remember your name. The topics were interesting and I could relate to it all. I’m glad I’m done but I will miss my therapist.”
“I was pretty mad when I had to attend 5th Street and had to pay every week but my classes were actually very interesting and the staff were always polite and professional. I attended classes on Saturdays which was convenient to me and my counselor, Rachel, let me express myself without feeling stupid. My lawyer told me I didn’t have to attend, but my Judge said it was good that I went to all of my classes and I got early termination.”
“I went to the one in Pompano which was hard to find the first time I went there and I was late but they were cool and saw me right away. The place is not fancy but it is clean and the employees are all very helpful and understand that I was only doing this for court. The classes were interesting and I only had to go once a week for one hour. I chose to go to classes on Tuesday nights and a couple of times I switched to Saturday because of my schedule and they were flexible. Overall not as bad as I thought especially my therapist Maggie who was always helpful. Glad I picked this one from the list.”
“I completed the Drug/Alcohol Program at the Pompano Beach location with Robert S. as my Therapist and I will say that he and the entire staff have left a lasting impression with me and my recovery, Robert has the patience and the professionalism to guide and help anyone who wants to change for the better and is a asset to your organization. Thank you for giving my life back to my family and I.”
“This was the only company on the list that answered the phone. It was very professional and they gave me an appointment the next day. The office on 441 was easy to find and staff was nice. I was seen on time by Gary and he was very understanding. It is a busy place but they took the time to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions. I was recommended to 26 weeks and they give you a lot of choices for the class times and not very expensive. So far, so good.”
